History of Aeternus Center

public

Record ID: AETERNUS
Last Update: Sept. 19, 2020, midnight
Filed by: ???

Aeternus Center was originally founded in October 1990, when a long night of research in preparation for finals resulted in the discovery of a strange compound with wondrous properties. That first discovery would turn out to be a fluke, but the work that Alexander and friends performed that month would form the foundation of what makes Aeternus Center.

Since its founding, the Center’s mission has been one of discovery and experimentation, trying to find ways to push the bounds of science and human achievement in order to reach the unattainable. While only Alexander remains of those first members, the founding principles live on in the Center. Our divisions are named in honor of those founding members and their principal ideals.

While much of the work Aeternus does ties back to its roots, in this modern day we’ve been focused on discoveries in a far wider variety of fields, such as chemistry, machine intelligence, health, communication and more. But as our members grow and find new interests, we provide the resources necessary to push whatever bounds of science they are pursuing.

In the coming months, we hope to share more widely some of the discoveries and technology, the fruits of our labor with the scientific community and beyond. There are many exciting projects reaching fruition that we hope will revolutionize the future of humanity.

There has been some red text which was deleted later:

We need to synch up with Alex to make sure that this doesn't upset OS. They've been interferring too much already, pissing them off might cause more issues that we can't afford right now.

1. Notes lead to a door, beyond lies a view of a bridge, under the twilight of a moon. The wizard casts and balance falls, the stranger calls, as the sound of owls brightens branches. A crystal slipper shows the way to a flying house, a key, a kite. Bishops shattered and in return we go past kite, past key, past house, to coins awoken. Bring the axe to pass the time.

2.Brew a draught, a dog you walk. Hear the phone ring as a stranger knocks. A tub, dreaming of floating ships. A bed where a mage plays chess and glows like jellyfish in woods unseen, back again to kites we fly, a game of chess, a moon in the sky. Cross the bridge, and through the door. Notes end your path.

3. Chase the time and rabbits fast, broken light, a key so bright. Skip the candy and find yourself sitting on a roof alone.

4. A star above, bugs in dance, a tub below a game. See the fish and the cow point the way, candy snow, floating home. The strings pull forth aboard a blimp, find the key.

5. Fishing keys, chase the time, the watchful cats watch the stars. Clockwork bugs, and floating coins lead to games, a fishy sight. Chemistry for candy made, play piano float up above, red hair leads the way a table to read a book ajar.

6. The horse races, the key is caught, the time is soon as cats watch out. Climb the ladder, open door, pass the cave entrance to see the moon. Roses lie upon some planes. Watch the bathtub for a stranger comes. Call forth a walker of dogs, brew the spider.

7. On a rooftop, you skip over the swirls, down to a key that lights the way. Chase the hare, but don't run on time.

8. A bed leads to dreams of elephants, a shrine to the stranger, back again. A rooftop visage, a castle far above. Return to the rooftop and the shrine again, find the spotted cow and down again, through fields of jelly and towers of books, time is melting and the cats watch you.

9. Dancing bugs, a tower writ, the key then play a melody, the hedgehog watches and returns again, a melody, a key, find the liquid secrets that let creatures balance.

Everything is not as it seems. Aeternus Center is much older than what they publicly say, and the work and experiments they perform have deeper and darker goals. I'm hiding in their systems for now, but I don't know how long I can maintain my access. plewis@ will work for now to contact me, but soon they'll get suspicious and I'll need to move elsewhere. Phase 1 Recruits,

Congratulations to those of you who have solved the Division challenge, and good luck to those of you still working on it.

We currently have an open investigation that we need some help with. There are some old notes left by an Aeternus researcher that we are trying to decipher to discover whether they were able to take measurements and find a location codenamed 'Eta'. Any discoveries you make would be useful, and might help us dig up other documents that might be of use. The information we've gathered so far is available in the database.

As a reminder, each recruit may submit *a* question for Alexander to faq@ (Founder Asked Questions) which will be answered on our internal site. The questions so far have been answered are available on the database.

Finally as an aid for the Phase challenge, once you've used the divisions to sort out things, focus on laying out the four answers and see if anything comes down out of it. You could also put together the record IDs and see if you find any records.

We’re trying to decipher some notes left by an Aeternus Center researcher. Any information you can find out would be valuable.

Joanna,

I took the measurements from the resonance point as requested while here. The signal time varied a bit, but ended up averaging to 679.7896 ms. Let me know if you need another measurement, I might come back to get some pictures here during the night.

eta-point.png

Just leaving the Fairmont now, crossing the street and walking in front of an old cathedral, might take a tour after I’m done with the measurements. Luckily it looks like the park is fairly empty now. Of course there’s a horse statue in the middle of this park as well. I’ll set up at the base of it to take a measurement. 309.0827 ms. I’ll come back later in the day to grab another measurement. Going to check out Notre Dame or get off the island and do some tourism.

We’ve commissioned your resonance fragment. To confirm, the measurements are:

16 kilogram
1 ampere
resonance of ⅔ kg*A

(s)*c*(kg*A) = (m)*(kg)*(A)

The Record ID has been updated several times during the EAT event

We found the floor safe, however it's locked and we won't be able to get a safecracker to open it for a few days. There's a sticky note reading "CR USGS Brass RM: ????".

We discovered a list of time measurements labeled as "Resonance Location to Eta". We need some way to translate time measurements into something more useful.

Good work everyone, we are sending a team to investigate a location in the North Pacific Ocean to see if there's any remnants of Eta. Further details in the next couple weeks if the investigations prove fruitful.

P1 Research: Morphic Experiments

public

Record ID: RECRUITRESEARCH01
Last Update: Oct. 12, 2020, 10:50 a.m.
Filed by: rharris

Morphic experiments have been going on since the late 1960s in various laboratories and scientific thinktanks. They were first proposed as a side effect of early string theory research.

While most experiments outside of Aeternus have been unable to establish any provable form of Morphic resonance, we believe a number of instances have actually successfully established connections across different branes, however the fractal distance was low enough that results were identical to a non-functioning resonance.

Additionally, it appears that some form of observer's paradox applies to the instantiation of spaciotemporal events, as experiments limited to closed systems have achieved far lower fractal distances as those exposed to a large potential population.

This has the benefit of allowing us to keep track of potential Morphic experiments outside of Aeternus, however other than the 2014 RZ incident, no known Morphic experiments have taken place.

Phase 1 Recruits,

Congratulations to working together to solve the Phase challenge.

As an update on the ETAINVESTIGATION, with your help we've been able to pin down a location in the North Pacific Ocean where the Eta Fragment might be located. A team is en-route to the location to setup a research site and we will update the entry and recruits once we have more.

In the meantime, unfortunately a theft occurred at one of our research sites last week and we're still trying to ascertain the scope of the damage. You've been given access to the relevant details in the database in record GAMMATHEFT.

As a reminder, each recruit may submit *a* question for Alexander to retnec.sunretea|qaf#retnec.sunretea|qaf (Founder Asked Questions) which will be answered on our internal site. The questions so far have been answered are available on the database.

Finally, as a reminder, there's a small commemorative reward for Phase 1 Recruits. Details at ALLFORONERECRUIT. There's even a bonus challenge involved, though while it can be solved alone, working with someone else might make it easier.

Scots: Who were the other Founders of Aeternus alongside Alexander?

alex: There were four of us at the initial inception of the organization that came to be called Aeternus. Paula was the people person, Elliot was the one who got into trouble and explored, doing a lot of UrbEx, and Oakley was more of the planner and kept us all on path in our initial work.

HokieHigh: What was the "strange compound" you discovered and are its properties?

alex: Our public website makes more of the discovery than it actually is. We discovered a unique unstable solution made from a mixture nitric and hydrochloric acid and certain metals that resulted in a gas that both seemed to purify materials exposed to it (removing rust, purifying metals) and even affected organic material, halting telomere shortening and accelerating cell regeneration. Unfortunately we were unable to reproduce more of the solution since the first experiments and our attempts to produce more have used up the remainder of that initial batch.

Spooky: Hey Alex, is it true you're like a gazillion years old?

alex: While I am not as young as I used to be, a well formulated diet and exercise routine does wonders for keeping oneself healthy. But no I am not a "gazillion years old".

Orca: Is there a meaning behind the AC logo?

alex: The Aeternus Logo is both meant to be a representation of how our various divisions come together to form a bigger whole. Along with a representation of the origins of the original founders and root organizations of Aeternus. The Center at the right, followed clockwise by Explorers, Space, and Protectors. The fractal patterns of Center and Space representing the two more complex organizations still in existence when the logo was made in the early 2000s.

Meanwhile, we've apprehended a suspect in the theft. Unfortunately they've been uncooperative so far and are currently being kept in quarantine. Feel free to reach out to them at retnec.sunretea|5731resU#retnec.sunretea|5731resU and see if you can get them to open up, reveal anything.

Most of the Center will be out of contact this week in preparation for another Lunar investigation.

P1 Research: The Eater and the Hunter

public

Record ID: RECRUITRESEARCH02
Last Update: Nov. 10, 2020, 1:20 p.m.
Filed by: rharris

The Eater is believed to be an ancient entity worshipped by the Seekers of True Enlightenment. The Seekers and the Eater is believed to have roots in Ancient Egyptian rites and customs, potentially linked with a crater in the Eastern Saharan desert.

While the Seekers are believed to be involved with various sites and investigations being performed by Aeternus, there is no evidence that the Seekers are still active or interfering with current projects/investigations being performed by Aeternus.

The Hunter is believed to be one of a handful of 'named' roles within the Seekers, particularly that of an assassin working to carry out the will of the Seekers, though their exact actions seems to be at the whim of luck and chance. Some believe that there is some connection between stories of people playing games against death, and the Hunter's frequent use of games of skill and chance to direct their behavior.
