Prime

First Appearance - March 25, 2021

Prime appeared in a Private channel on the Parley server, referring to the reader and the entity we controlled as "you". We proceeded and moved the story forward by voting for what thing we would do next. Bolded choices are what won the popular vote.

You awaken. You are disoriented. You don't remember who you are.

You are in a dark corridor, the walls are made of metal. It is quiet and the corridor itself is empty.

In front of you, you see a door that leads out into the wider world.
Behind you, you see a door that leads deeper into the facility.

1 - Proceed through the door out.
2 - Proceed through the door in.
3 - Gather your thoughts.
4 - "???"

You gather your thoughts.

Your memories are fuzzy, you were trapped, frozen, unable to move or act.

Then a crack formed in the walls of your cell.

You pushed through it.

You found yourself elsewhere.

Lost.

Your past lies behind you, back inside the facility. The secrets of your origins.

Freedom to explore and discover lies ahead of you, beyond the boundaries of this place.

1 - Proceed through the door out.
2 - Proceed through the door in.
3 - Examine yourself.
4 - "???"

We voted for 4, trying to figure out what the ??? meant.

You consider another course of action, but the action you reactively consider makes no sense.

1 - Proceed through the door out.
2 - Proceed through the door in.
3 - Examine yourself.
4 - "?"

Examining yourself, you find you find no injuries or other unexpected differences from what you'd expect.

You are carrying nothing.

You feel quite energized, almost imagining you could call down lightning bolts from the sky.

1 - Proceed through the door out.
2 - Proceed through the door in.
3 - Attempt to do magic.
4 - "???"

Proceeding through the door in, you find yourself in a wide room with four doors in front of you.

One is labeled Laboratory, another is labeled Classroom, another Ballroom, and the last Study.

You feel fear when you think about the classroom.

1 - Proceed to the Laboratory.
2 - Proceed to the Ballroom.
3 - Proceed to the Study.
4 - "???"

Entering the Study, you find a nice ornate room.

There are bookshelves lining the left and right walls, filled with rows and rows of books.

In front of you is a mahogany desk, with an old clunky computer sitting on it.

There is a regal looking chair behind the desk.

There is a slightly crooked painting on the wall behind the desk.

In one corner of the room is a globe.

In another corner of the room is a chess set.

1 - Examine the desk.
2 - Examine the chess set.
3 - Examine the chair.
4 - "???"

You consider another course of action, but the action you reactively consider makes no sense.

1 - Examine the desk.
2 - Examine the chess set.
3 - Examine the chair.
4 - “???

Examining the desk, you see a number of locked drawers.

On the desk, there is a series of folders labeled "Active", "Done", "Backlog".

On the desk, there is a computer which requires a username.

1 - Look elsewhere.
2 - Force drawers open.
3 - Try a username.
4 - “???

You try to force the drawers open, most of them don't budge.

The top one does budge after a while, and looking closely, it appears that it was just jammed.

There is stationary here, along with a half-eaten bar of chocolate.

There's a set of sticky notes, you can make out a faint impression of the word "Not the Capitals".

1 - Eat the chocolate.
2 - Try a username.
3 - Look elsewhere.
4 - “???

You eat the chocolate, it taste a bit stale and is much too sweet, dark chocolate is clearly superior.

1 - Eat a sticky note.

There's also part of the bookshelf which is filled with books with no titles on their spines.

1 - Examine the fantasy books.
2 - Examine the encyclopedias.
3 - Look elsewhere.
4 - “???

Examining the encyclopedias, you see that they are mostly complete sets of Britannica and the World Book.

You suspect anything you could look up here, can more easily be looked up with something modern.

1 - Examine the fantasy books.
2 - Examine the biographies.
3 - Look elsewhere.
4 - “???

The globe seems fairly worn and frequently used.
Beneath the globe is a decanter of some red liquid.

1 - Drink the mysterious liquid.
2 - Spin the globe.
3 - Look elsewhere.
4 - “???

You spin the globe, albeit a little forcibly.

Some of the pins go flying out.

Hopefully they weren't important.

1 - Look elsewhere.
2 - Enter the code PR463.
3 - Enter the code 2AIRO.
4 - “???

2 - Force drawers open some more.
3 - Try a username.
4 - “???

You prepare to type in a username.

4 - “???

You look around some more.

1 - Examine the desk again.
2 - Examine the painting again.

4 - “???

The safe gives a warning beep.

You're not sure how long until you get locked out.

1 - Enter the code WRONG.
2 - Enter the code FALSE.
3 - Enter the code ALICE again.
4 - “???

They gave us a hint here in bold:

You consider another course of action, but the action you reactively consider makes no sense.

1 - Enter the code WRONG.
2 - Enter the code FALSE.
3 - Enter the code ALICE again.
4 - “???

We used reactions on the messages to determine what we wanted to do, which then became option 4 (or 1, depending on the question)

The safe gives another angry warning beep.

You're not sure how long until you get locked out.

You realize you aren't good at guessing passwords, hopefully some other course of action presents itself.

1 - "ES"

You suspect you need something longer than that.

1 - "37SEN"

You have a brilliant idea, and enter 37SEN.

A disco ball comes down, and celebratory fireworks go off, before you get a check for $100.

Oh no, that's just you daydreaming. The safe does open. There's a switch on the back wall of the safe.

1 - Flip the switch.
2 - Flip the switch.
3 - Look elsewhere.
4 - “???

You flip the switch. The back wall of the room begins lifting up.

Behind it, there's a glass room, with a small door. Inside the glass room, you can make out a weird hole/rift floating there.

1 - Look elsewhere.
2 - Enter the glass room.
3 - Leave the Study.
4 - “???

Entering the glass room, you feel yourself being pulled towards the rift.

The pull isn't very strong, but you're not sure if it is one-way.

2 - Leave the glass cube.
3 - Lick the rift.
4 - “???

You leave the glass cube, even as you have an overwhelming urge to lick the rift, returning to the Study.

2 - Leave the Study.
3 - Return to the glass cube.
4 - "books"

You examine the bookshelves again.

1 - Look at the fantasy books.
2 - Take some of the biographies to use as kindling.
3 - Look elsewhere.
4 - "journals"

You look at the journals on the shelf, there are a lot of them.

1 - Start reading the one labeled "B".
2 - Start reading the one labeled "Giza Agricultural Research".
3 - Look elsewhere.
4 - [???]

You begin reading the one labeled 'B'. It is long.
According to
all known laws
of aviation,
there is no
way a bee
should be
able to fly
Its wings
are too small
to get
its fat little
body off the
ground.
The bee
of course
flies anyway
Countries minus four
because bees
don't care
what humans
think is
impossible.
You decide to stop reading this thrilling tale.

1 - Continue reading.
2 - Look elsewhere.
3 - Sleep.
4 - “???

Looking elsewhere, you notice that one corner of the chair is propped up by another journal, labeled "U".

1 - Read journal.
2 - Look at computer.
3 - Return to the glass room.
4 - “???

You start reading that journal.
It says:
Never gonna give U up.
You don't even.
You decide to take a seat at the computer.
Maybe you can figure out the username.

1 - "oakley"

The computer pops up "UNKNOWN USER".

1 - "oakleysmith"

The computer pops up "UNKNOWN USER".

1 - <a poor approximation of the konami code>

It doesn't work.

1 - [???]
